Call for Abstract Submissions

The University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA), also known as the Graduate Nurses Association of Nigeria (GNAN), is pleased to announce its 22nd National Professional Conference and Scientific Update (NAPCON), scheduled to hold from Sunday, 9th August to Saturday, 15th August, 2026, in Karu, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. UGONSA hereby invites researchers, scholars, nurses, midwives, and professionals in nursing and allied health disciplines to submit abstracts, dissertations, clinical updates, theses, and theoretical/conceptual papers for consideration for presentation at the conference.

This conference aims to provide a robust platform for intellectual exchange, professional development, and the advancement of nursing practice through evidence-based research and innovation. Participants are encouraged to submit original, high-quality abstracts that address contemporary healthcare challenges, emerging trends, and practical solutions within the healthcare system.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts should be 250–300 words.
  • Submissions must include: Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), and Contact Information.
  • Abstracts should clearly state: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
  • All submissions must be original and not previously published.

Important Dates

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 30th June, 2026
  • Notification of Acceptance of Abstract: 10th July, 2026
  • Conference Dates: 10th – 15th August, 2026

Submission Process

All abstracts should be submitted electronically via: Email: gnan2ugonsa@gmail.com

Accepted abstracts will be considered for oral presentation. Outstanding submissions may also be selected for publication in the Conference Book of Abstracts or in UGONSA’s international journal, The Nursing Scope.

Abstract Submission Fee: Not Applicable

Conference Venue: Conference Hall, Department of Nursing Sciences, Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, Nigeria

Conference Registration & Accommodation

Further details on the conference schedule and registration modalities will be communicated via official posters and flyers before the end of May 2026.

  • Registration Fee:
    • Graduates: ₦25,000
    • Undergraduates: ₦15,000

The registration fee covers:

  • Conference bag
  • Book of Abstracts (soft copy)
  • Latest editions of The Nursing Scope (soft copy)
  • Conference materials
  • Meals (breakfast and lunch only)

Participants are responsible for their accommodation. However, UGONSA will facilitate affordable lodging options within and around Bingham University.

Conference Programme: The official programme will include detailed schedules of presentations, including session moderators. Abstracts may include multiple authors.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Presentations must align with the submitted abstract in title, authorship, and scientific content (updates may be included where necessary).
  • Full papers should not exceed 15 pages, including tables and references.
  • Formatting requirements:
    • Double line spacing
    • Times New Roman, font size 14
    • A4 paper size
  • Referencing style: APA 7th Edition
  • A cover page must include: Title, Author(s), Institutional Affiliation, and Email Address

 

Commitment to Presentation

Authors will be notified of the decision of the Abstract Review Committee. Accepted authors must confirm their willingness to present. Accurate contact details are essential. If no notification is received by 10th July, 2026, authors should contact the association via email: gnan2ugonsa@gmail.com  or visit www.ugonsa.com and fill out the contact form. Presenters are expected to honor their commitment. In cases of genuine emergencies, UGONSA will issue an erratum indicating withdrawn presentations. Failure to present without valid reason may result in blacklisting from future submissions.

Abstract Withdrawal Policy

Requests for withdrawal must be submitted in writing no later than July 10, 2026, via email. Abstracts cannot be withdrawn after this deadline. UGONSA reserves the right to withdraw abstracts that violate its policies, including those with:

·         High plagiarism index

·         Scientific inconsistencies

·         Inaccurate or misleading data
